The Stonemill Drive bridge over the Conoy Creek in West Donegal Township has reopened to traffic after work to replace it.
Stonemell Drive closed from Bossler Road to Miller Road in July so the county-owned bridge could be replaced. It was originally scheduled to reopen Oct. 31, but remained closed for weeks after as the work took longer than scheduled. West Donegal Township announced on Friday, Nov. 22, that the bridge was open to traffic again.
An official detour route was posted, which used Bossler and Garber roads to get around the closed section of Stonemill Drive. Residents living on this section of Stonemill Drive were still be able to access their properties from either Bossler (those located west of the bridge) or Miller roads (those located east of the bridge). Police, fire and emergency medical services will also still have access to all properties in a similar manner. The township advised people whose daily travels take them through the area to find an alternate route.
