State Police Fire Marshal Investigates After Blaze Destroys West Donegal Home

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal’s Division is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in West Donegal Township.

The fire was reported the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 11, at a home on Locust Drive. The Elizabethtown Fire Department and its mutual aid companies were dispatched and found the fire had vented through the roof. Additional resources were called to establish a fill site at a nearby pond.

Firefighters were on the scene for about four hours.

The American Red Cross was asked to help two adults, one child and a pet at the home.

Assisting the Elizabethtown Fire Department were the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department, Rheems Fire Department, Fire Department Mount Joy, Bainbridge Fire Company 71, Londonderry Fire Company, Mastersonville Fire Co, Maytown-East Donegal Township Fire Department, Lawn Fire Company. and Dauphin 71.

The Elizabethtown Fire Department thanked Pizzatown for the donation of several pizzas, drinks and refreshments, as well as Progress Fire 32 and Colonial Park Fire Co. No. 1 providing coverage of Elizabethtown’s first due.
