Paul and Christine Baker Mark 60 Years of Their Marriage

Paul and Christine Baker of Elizabethtown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at the home of Jerry and Julie Ruhl with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were married on June 6, 1959, at Christ Evangelical Reformed Church (now Christ Church United Church of Christ), Market Street, Elizabethtown, by the Rev. Philip E. Saylor.

The Bakers are the parents of Paul A. Baker, husband of Karen, Elizabetbtown; Julie, wife, of Jerry Ruhl, Mount Joy; Nancy, wife of Scott Boltz, Harrisburg, and Thomas Baker, husband of Tina, Hummelstown. There are 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with another one expected around Sept. 22.

Paul Baker retired from masonry work after putting in 56 years of hard work. He enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, going to Stone Harbor, N.J., for two weeks in July and spending time with family, relatives and friends. The Bakers are members of Conewago Church of The Brethren (Bachmansville) Hershey, where they served as deacons for 43 years. He is the caretaker for Conewago Church Cemetery for 34 years; doing all the mowing at cemetery and all other church property.

Christine Baker is a retired part-time cafeteria worker, serving 25 years at Conewago Elementary School in Conewago Township, Dauphin County, near Elizabethtown. She takes care of prayer chain and prayer guide responsibilities at Conewago Church. She is also in charge of funeral meals and cooks love feast meals. She helps with the church membership keeping it updated each year. She enjoys reading, watching TV, going to Stone Harbor, N.J., for two weeks in July and spending time with family, relatives and friends.
