Mount Joy Chamber Awards Scholarships

Carl Hackman, president of the Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce, recently awarded a $500 scholarship to two local students attending The Janus School, 205 Lefever Road, Mount Joy.

The two Mount Joy students were 11th grader Mark Laube and 2nd grader Jadon Matias. The $500 scholarships presented on Sept. 25 will be put towards their education at The Janus School. Both of the boys had their families present as they received their scholarships.

The Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce awards seven scholarships to local students each year totaling $4,500. Two $500 scholarships are sponsored by the Chamber and go to graduating Donegal students which are picked by the school and awarded at senior awards night, two 1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship are done through the Chamber Scholarship Team (applications are usually on the website or available in the Chamber office by the middle of March), and the final two $500 scholarships are awarded to two Janus School students who live locally.
