Local Scout Makes Eagle; Trail Shelter Was Service Project

Chad Ryan Heisey, of Elizabethtown, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in May and was awarded his badge at a Court of Honor July 29 at Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church.

Heisey, the son of Anthony and Sandy Heisey, is a member of Troop 117, Elizabethtown, chartered by the United Church of Christ.

To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn 21 required merit badges, demonstrate leadership and serve the community through coordination and completion of an Eagle project.

For his project Heisey, with the help of volunteers, constructed an emergency

shelter along the Conestoga Recreational Trail in the new Old Trolley Line Park in Mount Joy Township.

He is a senior at Elizabethtown Area High School, where he is a member of the lacrosse team. After graduation, he plans to attend college to study to be a physical therapy assistant.
