Letter to the Editor: Thanks to All Who Made Maytown Festivities Successful

letter, LTE

A big thank you to all who made the May celebrations in Maytown a huge success! Thanks to those who worked diligently on the Mayfest Committee to provide a family- friendly celebration to help keep our Maytown history alive. Thanks to Donegal School District for supporting our art contest and providing a place to practice the maypole dance. Thanks to the teachers and staff for helping the students learn historical dances and songs. Thanks to the community businesses for donating to our first-ever auction. And, of course, thanks to all of you who came to enjoy the activities!

Thanks to those who helped on the Memorial Day Parade Committee, those who participated in the parade and the ceremony at the square, and to all of you who attended. Thanks especially to the parents and families who took time to instill a sense of patriotism and respect for those who gave their lives to serve our nation. Young people learn by example, and what better example than taking the time to remember and to honor our soldiers and veterans.

For those of you who like to plan ahead, reserve May 2 and May 25, 2020, as next year’s community days in Maytown. You’ll be glad you did!
