Donegal Schools Raise Taxes 2.5%

The Donegal School Board of Directors approved a final budget that includes a tax increase at its monthly meeting.

The budget that passed included a 2.5% tax increase, with a millage rate of 18.6211, according to Michelle Kendig, director of business services.

“This budget is proposing a 2.5% increase, which is bringing in an additional $711,000 of revenue,” Kendig said. “A 2.5% tax increase for the average assessed property at $162,100, the cost to the taxpayer is an additional $73.61 next year,” Kendig said total expenses on the spending plan are $53,605,971.

There is a $146 deficit, Kendig said.

She said the amount of the Homestead and Farmstead property tax reduction amount is $129.34.

There will be no monthly meeting of the school board in July. The next meeting of the Donegal School Board will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, at Donegal Primary School, 1055 Koser Road, Mount Joy.
