Donegal Schools Plan 2.98% Tax Increase

The Donegal school board has approved a preliminary budget with a tax increase.

If the preliminary 2019-2020 general fund budget is approved, there will be a 2.98% tax increase.

For a taxpayer whose home was assessed at $162,100, is there would be an increase of $87.74 in taxes for the school year, according to Michelle Kendig, director of business services.

Kendig said at the board meeting on Thursday, May 16, that projected revenue has increased from last year’s amount of $50,266,975 to $52,030,888.

Proposed expenditures have increased from last year’s amount of $51,361,060 to $53,596,422, Kendig said. She said there is a $19,084 deficit in this spending plan.

The final budget and tax increase will be voted on at the June meeting of the school board, Kendig said.

The next meeting of the Donegal school board will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday,June 20, at Donegal Primary School, at 1055 Koser Road, Mount Joy.
