Volunteers Turn Out for ‘Day of Caring’

The United Way of Lancaster County organized the “Day of Caring” event that had hundreds of volunteers turn out to work on various community projects in the Elizabethtown area on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Work included fixing up the former St. Peter Parochial School on Washington Street into the new Community Place on Washington. The goal is to make a central point for social services in Elizabethtown, making it so people in need of multiple social services can get them all taken care of in one place.

Other volunteers worked on projects including playground mulching, and downtown clean-up.
