A 23-year-old former Elizabethtown man is accused of lying about his age and claiming to be 18 when he got into a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
Sebastian R. Derr, who now lives on River Road near Laurel Drive in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, is charged with five counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, a felony of the first degree; 10 counts of statutory sexual assault, a felony of the second degree; two counts of aggravated indecent assault, a felony of the second degree; one count of corruption of minors, a felony of the third degree, and four counts of indecent assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree.
Derr lived on East High Street just west of Spruce Street at the time of the relationship, court records show.
Elizabethtown Police Detective Matthew T. Shuey described the allegations against Derr in a sworn statement filed in court. Shuey wrote that the girl told police that she was dating Derr from July 7, 2018, until late December, and that she was 15 years old during that time and Derr told her he was 18. The girl’s mother told police that she put an end to the relationship once she learned just before Christmas that Derr was actually 23. The girl told police that she and Derr had sex multiple times over the course of their relationship.
Shuey wrote in court papers that Derr voluntarily went to the Elizabethtown Police Department on Jan. 30 to be interviewed. In that interview, Derr acknowledged having sex with the girl multiple times and acknowledged that he knew she was 15 years old, Shuey wrote.
Derr was released on unsecured bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday, April 8, before Magisterial District Judge Scott E. Albert. The Advocate invited his lawyer, Dennis Dougherty, to comment for this article, but got no response by press time.
