Golf opened its season at Foxchase Golf Club and the top four combined to shoot 392. In the most recent match at Foxchase, the top four combined to shoot 414.
The total earned them a 1-5 record as they edged out Ephrata (420) for their lone victory. It was the second consecutive match that Elizabethtown shot 414. They previously did so at Meadia Heights on Aug. 28.
Juniors Connor Krisko (106), Matt Pottgeiser (105) and junior Taylor Cross (95) all improved on their scores from their first visit to Foxchase. Krisko dropped six shots, Pottgeiser dropped 10 shots and Cross also dropped 10 shots on Thursday, Sept. 7.
Heading into the match at Tanglewood on Tuesday, Sept. 12, the team played to a 7-23 record, which put tied them with Garden Spot for fifth place.
At Tanglewood, the team finished in sixth place for the fourth consecutive match. Krisko shot a season-low 97 and was one of two Elizabethtown golfers to shoot less than 100. The other was sophomore Eric Gilbert who also carded a 97. Nick Walton lowered his score for the fourth consecutive match with a 104.
The top four was rounded out by Alex O’Shea and his 107. That mark beat his previous low-score of 125.
The Bears have one match remaining in the regular season and it is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 18, at Honeybrook Golf Club.
Elizabethtown will enter that match with an 8-28 record. They sit one game behind Garden Spot for fifth place. Cocalico has clinched the Section Two title with a 35-1 record.
