Elizabethtown Man Has Felony Charges Over Sexual Abuse of Child

Michael E. Dunk

An Elizabethtown man is accused of sexually abusing a girl who was less than 13 years old at the time of the abuse. The victim, who is now an adult, reported the allegations to police in October.

Michael E. Dunk, 53, of West Willow Street between North Market and North Poplar streets, is facing multiple felony charges. They include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, a felony of the first degree; two counts of aggravated indecent assault, a felony of the second degree; two counts of indecent assault, a felony of the third degree; corruption of minors, a felony of the third degree, and unlawful contact with a minor, a felony of the first degree.

Elizabethtown Police Detective Dustin H. Ryan wrote in a sworn statement filed in court that the crimes took place about 2005 at a residence on North Poplar Street near West Willow Street. Ryan wrote that the victim said Dunk was the boyfriend of her babysitter and had abused her “multiple times through most of her childhood.” Ryan wrote that after getting corroborating evidence, he interviewed Dunk on Friday, Dec. 14, and he admitted to two instances of abusing the girl around 2005.

Dunk is being held in the Lancaster County Prison because he was unable to pay bail, which was set at $200,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, before Magisterial District Judge Scott E. Albert.

Police said in a news release that the Mount Joy Police Department assisted with the investigation.
