The 2019 Lancaster County Region Scholastic Art Awards winners were recently announced and freshman Ryan Moyer from Elizabethtown Area High School took home two honors. Moyer earned both his awards in the digital design category. He received a silver key for his work titled “Monochromatic Landscape” and an honorable mention for his work titled “The Anatomy of a Sock Puppet.” Moyer’s work will be on display at the Demuth Museum in Lancaster City from Friday. March 1, through Sunday, April 14.
The annual competition, juried by local artists, was open to local secondary school students from across Lancaster County.Student works were judged
in numerous areas including original process, concept, and subject matter; technical competence; vision and expression; and presentation. At the regional level, students were eligible to receive one of three distinctions, a gold key, silver key, or honorable mention.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are thenation’s largest, longest-running, most prestigious visual and literary arts programrecognizing creative accomplishments of students in grades 7 through 12.
