The Elizabethtown Area School District is looking for a new business manager after accepting the resignation of George Longridge, which is effective Jan. 15.
Longridge said after the Tuesday, Dec. 4, school board meeting that he has accepted a position with the Berks County Intermediate Unit as chief financial officer and chief operations officer.
Longridge, who has been with the Elizabethtown Area School District for
almost 13 years, said that he is leaving with mixed emotions.
“I have a lot of really good friends and close relationships here, but it’s a good career opportunity for me,” he said.
Also at the board’s reorganational meeting, the school board re-elected Terry Seiders as president and M. Caroline Lalvani as vice president. They will serve an additional one-year term.
The board also approved a request by the Lancaster County Academy to commit for an additional three years starting July 1.The district will continue
to purchase 10 seats per school year to the alternative school for students who struggle in a traditional school or who have dropped out.
There will be a possible increase of $2,000 ($200 per seat) in addition to the $44,000 budgeted for the 2018-19 school year.
