Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Kyra Buettner and Conor Larison were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for May. Buettner and Larison were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities.
Buettner is the daughter of Ross and Lisa Buettner of Elizabethtown. She has been inducted into the prestigious National Honor Society. Buettner is an accomplished musician. She was selected to the Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association county band and orchestra, as well as the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association district and regional band. She is also section leader for the French Horn in the high school marching and concert bands.
Buettner is a member of the cross country team, where she served as captain. She is a member of the track and field team; school orchestra, jazz band, and chorus; key club; and has been a cast member for two musicals (Cinderella and The Sound of Music). Buettner was named a Lancaster-Lebanon League Scholar Athlete.

After graduation, Buettner plans to attend Gettysburg College and pursue a degree in Health Sciences in the pre-med track.
Larison is the son of Dennis and Julie of Elizabethtown. He was inducted into the prestigious National Honor Society. Larison is active in numerous school activities. He is a member of the high school quiz bowl team, editor of the literary magazine, a member of the competition science team, and active with the German and book clubs.
Larison has earned several awards including the German award for academic excellence, PHEAA SAT commendation award, and earned commended student status in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
In the community, Larison helps with the District’s Bear Bags program, Habitat for Humanity, and has supported numerous National Honor Society service projects.
After graduation, Larison hopes to become an international investor.
Rotary is a service organization that helps build goodwill and peace in the local community and throughout the world. The main objective of Rotary is service in the community. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. The Elizabethtown Rotary Club has supported the Elizabethtown youth for many years and in many ways. Some of the Rotary programs have been; Rotary Student of the Month, Pfautz Scholarship, Student Loans, Text-A-Tip notification program, Byrnes Health Center Field Trips, America’s Promise, Junior Achievement (JA) and others.
